Hey SIU; you can keep running, but you’re not gonna hide from the Racers much longer. Can’t wait for Carbondale to replace Martin as our 2nd home court. See ya real soon Salukis.

Can the second member please be South Dakota State? I mean at least if Murray State is part of the package I would be a bit more receptive to the idea of adding a school simply because of its market.

If you can get NDSU a reasonable FBS invite (i.e, not CUSA) then it becomes plausible though the eastern teams might have to get on a plane so it's probably a non-starter.

I doubt they would complain about that for a program of South Dakota State's caliber. Flying to play South Dakota State and flying to play a program like UTA are obviously two very different things. I'm not super great with the idea of adding UTA myself because I just don't feel like the program is worth it. Like UIC if they got better I would be happy to revisit it.

As for the NDSU invite thing I wonder if maybe the Mountain West would be willing to take them as Football only sometime between now and 2025. That would allow them to accommodate another strong basketball program to help court Gonzaga (Wichita State? St Mary's?) That would be beneficial for all parties involved but of course would not be very good for the MVC as it would make a rival league much stronger but I have to wonder if maybe this is a possibility. If that could get us SDSU that would be great for us. For the record Matt Brown posted on a board that the Summit League isn't REALLY worried about losing schools like Denver and St Thomas which leads me to believe that maybe NDSU and SDSU are talking about moving somewhere

Another note I just read from Matt Brown: the reason we aren't hearing about NKU or Milwaukee is because both of them explored the possibility but couldn't raise enough money. We can take them off the board for potential candidates (this is more for me because I have pushed NKU in the past until very recently. Plus they aren't very good this year which is concerning. Here are the Matt Brown posts:

The rumor a few weeks ago was the NDSU had talked to the Mountain West but it would have to be for all sports and the two sticking points were that all of NDSUs other programs would be at the bottom of the league with a large hill to climb and geography. Fargo is closer to Winnipeg than it is to the Twin Cities and while it gets the MW into the central time zone, it doesn't bring a whole lot of eyeballs.

The one to watch is the WAC. Their recent moves are trying to bring back FBS football, I think. Geography would help them as they could take from Big Sky/MVFC teams wanting to move up.

If they were to be realistic in their FBS hopes, you might see wholesale flight from the MVFC as the Dakota schools would have a way to move up together. Not sure how feasible that is or if the Dakotas would even want that.

That's just stupid on NDSU's part. They are a football school and the extra scholarships involved in that transition plus the additional travel would make their other programs far less competitive. They would do well still if they kept their Olympic sports in the Summit League. They would be able to have the best of both worlds then. I don't get why they don't see it.
