Another Expansion/Realignment Thread

Not intended to be pro or against St. Thomas, just informative. The University of Denver, which is way more focused on Hockey, used to have both basketball and hockey play in the same arena. It became cost prohibitive for them to switchover from hockey to basketball floor so they moved basketball into what is essentially a high school gym. Although St. Thomas may say all the right things now, its possible if basketball attendance starts to lag they may be forced to do the same thing.

If I was the MVC commissioner or school president/AD and was adding St. Thomas I would require a commitment that if not met could remove them from the conference with 75% of the votes after X many years. So 8 schools.

Are there schools at the mid-major level that happen to be good at both MBB and hockey at the same time?

UMass has been successful at hockey recently. Good, as it relates to basketball, is probably a stretch in that timeframe. Harvard and Cornell are also good at Hockey and have had some success in Basketball but the Ivy's are operating in a different world from the rest of the mid-major conferences.
