UAB assistant Chris Shumate who played for Tevester and Cronin. Tyler Holloway was pretty good off the bench. But pretty much none ever.

In addition, the Flames have signed 6'7" Mekhi Lowery. 5.6 ppg, 5.2 Rpg, 1.7 apg.
They've also signed 6'6" Guard Sam Silverstein from Cal Baptist.

I realize it’s just “spring recruiting” hype and why “Mo State blah, blah, blah, blah” BUT it’s nice to have something to crow about versus the alternative.

SIU added a couple guards over the past 24 hours:
- Quel’Ron House, a 5-11 PG from Jacksonville State who was on the Conference USA all-freshman team last year. He averaged 8.4 PPG and 3 assists. Jacksonville State was pretty good last year (NIT second round) and House scored 20 in their CUSA semi win over Middle Tennessee. Imagine he’ll slot in as Southern’s starting PG, a position of need
- Caden Hawkins, a 6-1 guard out of John A. Logan JC. No idea if he’ll play, but a fun one for longtime Saluki fans, as his dad, Shane, was a 3-point sniper in the Rich Herrin days. Caden is also a good shooter but this may be more of a feel-good/local signing … maybe he ends up backing up House at PG, depending on how the rest of the portal period goes (at least three open rides remain).

No doubt. There is a lot of volume there which helps - but better than being ranked last.
