Any other Southern fans on here unable to access the message board today? Is it something on my end or did somebody forget to pay the bills?

Seems like the website was extended in March so guessing it's a temporary outage. If it's a permanent outage, I'll get something new started

I’d be in favor of you starting something new, even if Insider gets back online. Certainly appreciate the work that goes into hosting one of these things, but I find that website cumbersome to navigate, and, in comparison to other Valley sites, it could be more polished.

So is Saluki Insider no more? Saluki talk seemed to have more insider info. Too bad if Saluki Insider is gone, it was still an active board.

If Saluki Insider is dead (still want to give it time), does anyone have experience getting a forum set up and what the cost would be?

And does anyone have contact with Barkeep/Saluki69 that reads this board?

Depends on what you want and how big your project is. Paying for a domain name wont cost you much. Typucally its <$20 yearly out of your wallet to own a domain.

As for "rebuilding" saluki-insider, there are a few paths you could take. Saluki-Insider looked to be ran on a modern PHP framework. It looked similar to the Valpo site which I believe is a modern PHP framework. PHP is relatively simple enough to learn how to use, but if you have contact with the original builder, you could request to have the old code and just deploy it to a new site.

If you want to build a completely new site, there would be a few costs to think about. Cost to access a database to store all of your critical information(logins, posts, ect ect). These prices vary depending on where you get it and how much space you want for storage. As for building a site, I would reccomend doing it yourself as paying someone to build it for you could be very costly.

Saluki-Insider ran on Wordpress and it was an annoying site to navigate. I’d prefer something like this site (phpBB).

Then I guess 04 moved the site from php to wordpress. As for phpBB, it is an older framework for php, but it still does seem to get regular updates. BB is completely open source so it shouldn't cost anything to start a site with it. BB also has their own recommendations for hosting. If you go with them it will run you just south of 100 dollars yearly given the suggested hosting platform and their rates. As for data storage, I dont know much about their recommended companies enough to offer insight as to where to store the data

If you want more info on phpBB and how to build a site with it(assuming you dont already know) then the documentation would be your best bet. Alternatively, you could get in contact with MVCFans themselves and ask how this site works and build based off of that.
