I think Bradley bought a coach that was more proven than any UE is going to be able to afford. Just my opinion.

If I were Bradley or I guess even Evansville. I'd go after coach Jans. If you could get over him being an Illinois St. guy.
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.

I'm pretty sure there is about 1 job in the Valley that is at the level Jans is looking for in his next job (no offense meant to UNI. Your program is rock-solid, just a little low on the resources compared to where I think he's heading). I also do not think he will be a 1-year program-jumper.

I don't have anything against Jans. My thought would be if he is making $325K now, as earlier posted, it would probably take something more to get him to bolt, and that is assuming he can get out of whatever contract he has at BG. Bradley knows all too well how much of stickler to contracts MAC schools can be.

If you got past all of that, I am not sure 1 year is enough experience to warrant $400K plus. Heck, Marty had 1 good year at SIUE.

I don't think we should get too far into specific candidates since Marty will certainly finish the season out. My guess is barring an even more horrific collapse, he will probably get one more.

Whoever it is, we will need someone who can coach and work the community well. I know this will get all the MSU posters going, but we need a Barry Hinson type. Marty doesn't help his cause by being somewhat invisible outside of the season. It's kind of sad that it seems we see Tom Crean doing more events in Evansville than Marty.

If you contend that UE cannot afford Jans, I agree.

If you contend that Jans is not yet worthy of the UE HC job, I strongly disagree. If you don't believe, don't compare his 1 year to year 8 of Simmons. You may become upset.

If you contend that Jans is not yet worthy of the UE HC job, yet they cannot afford him, I am confused.

I think what E-Villan was getting at was, do you know what his pay was when he was first hired as HC at UNI? Before tenure and performance levels earned him his raises. That's a more natural comparison for a NEW head coach at Evansville.

$225k, but that was also 9 years ago. The world has changed dramatically.

No offense taken, plus I don't expect us to have an opening for another 12-15 years at the least...

Good point. But even as such, probably not more than double, right? I mean 400k(ish) doesn't seem out of range as comparable to Jacobson's initial salary.
