movalley johnnther99"]7 is the minimum for a conference, right? So they could start on their own and not have to pick anyone up right away.
The main hurdle would be the lack of an auto-bid for the NCAA. The MWC played without one for a while before they expanded the tournament to 65. I wonder if the recent expansion would ease the restriction and allow the NCAA to grant a bid earlier than usual for a new conference.[/quote]
I don't think the autobid is much of an issue. Sure, each conference has one, but the B1G, ACC, SEC and Big 12 don't need an autobid. And while Catholic league probably won't be of the magnitude of those four, it would be a multibid league anyway. Also, the potential TV deal could be huge. If this comes to fruition and Creighton gets an offer, they would be gone in a New York second. Creighton currently has a sports minded president with strong connections to all of those schools so anything is possible. It was asked earlier if Creighton fans would show up as well for those games, it's not even close. A game against a Catholic league bottom feeder would draw a lot more interest than a game against a good UNI or Drake team.
I still don't see Creighton getting the invite should this thing happen but they are in as good of a position as they ever have been should things break in the right way.
