We were a missed buzzer beater 3 against Drake and\or a little bit better execution against Loyola down the stretch away from doing so even in spite of all of that. I even believe that with a healthy Fazekas we would have beaten UNI in Cedar Falls. None of it matters because last year is last year but I say all of that to say this: would i be shocked if you're right? Absolutely not. We've never avoided Thursday before and we've lost a lot so it's very possible we'll be in that position again. HOWEVER, would I be surprised if I'm right? No. We still have plenty of talent even without JFL and we are gaining a lot this year as well. I have us rigth now with 4 as our absolute high and somewhere in the Thursday range (probably no lower than 8th though I suppose 9th is possible) as our low. I am very interested to see how the team responds this year. I hope that each player takes picking up the slack to fill JFL's shoes as a personal challenge that they long to fulfill. With a coach like Lottich at the helm who oozes competitiveness I think they will do just that. That's why I believe that they'll be better than you think.

You are gaining three high school guys and a JUCO recruit. That's similar to what every other team is adding and they didn't lose a guy like JFL.

It's a long summer and so much uncertainty to have to wait out, but right now the way the race looks to me is you have 2 teams [Loyola/UNI] that are above the rest, a team with enough talent to contend but who seems to underachieve[ Indiana State] a team that is competitive but doesn't seem to be able to take that next step during the regular season [Bradley] 5 teams that are currently bunched up again, and one team who looks destined for at least a bottom 2 finish in Evansville. There's enough roster churn among that middle group that any of them could rise up a bit or really struggle. A team like Bradley if they catch a break with a transfer waiver for East might be ready to be a top 1-2 , but they have only won one more regular season MVC game the last 2 years than some in that middle pack and they lost 3 senior starters , and most importantly their leader in Brown.

Hope springs eternal as always in the spring, summer, and early fall. For my Bears it's a critical year for Ford; I don't expect to challenge for the top, but we better be a solid 4-5 and show a better overall approach as a team or his seat will get hot the next year. If we are more solid, then we'll have almost everything back the following year [ or at least as much as you can hope to in the current transfer climate] and then i'd say we're ready.

He's good. Hopefully an MVC team gets him.

Huge loss. But Kind of expected that it would be difficult to keep a player of his caliber after a winless season.

DeAndre Williams should never have come to Evansville. He's no student and his entire 'prep' career is jury-rigged.

His 'mentor' tampered with the process on getting him to leave, which is not the same as Memphis being involved. I don't think it matters about Memphis.

UE needs to at least call that meddling into question when the waiver process starts.

Why should they call that into question? What does it change? He isn't staying at Evansville.

His 'mentor' giveth and taketh away as it comes to UE.

Um, this is not about DeAndre Williams.
This is about Kenneth Roy.
