Its an unusual phenomenon with Williamson and Loyola fans. It seems like his virtue is questioned if anyone thinks he got scored on.

It’s an unusual phenomenon for fan to defend their players? Hahaha I’m waiting for a UNI fan to come in and defend green vs. Mosley, or a drake fan to swoop in and just randomly announce DeVries is the best coach in the league…. I don’t think it’s unusual at all hahahaha. If Mosley was in foul trouble all game MSU fans would be rooting for the same thing - it’s sports… no…. ITS THE VALLEY.

Didn’t have a good angle on the knee, so I’ll trust ya! Regarding free throws - I don’t believe any were shooting fouls. They all happened too early to be in the bonus + one of the fouls on Williamson was offensive.. Valentine said postgame that Williamson was told pregame by the refs they’re we’re gonna call it very tight and they did (that said the ref waiting a full two seconds to call a travel on MSU in the first half was a bit too showy for my taste).

Agreed on Uguak tho! Great length and “free safety” in the lane. Personally a big Patterson fan myself, that kids tough.

Fair enough. I suppose I'm unusual in thinking that is weird.

Regarding the pre-game talk about calling things close over him being handsy, you'd think that makes it even worse for Loyola fans that he got into foul trouble. He was literally warned ahead of time that they were going to call the things he tends to do as fould today, so don't do them, yet he got into foul trouble anyway. Probably weird on this one as well, but that would frustrate me as a fan and have me even more upset at my player.

Judging an entire fan base based on the words of some Superfans on an MVC board won’t paint you an accurate picture of the average Loyola fan haha. Anyways, I don’t get frustrated or annoyed when someone says that someone scored on Lucas. I will however say something when somebody’s says, “he can’t guard Mosley” when the refs cut the matchup short. The refs for some reason said they were going to call it tight on Lucas that game, that’s strange. Then he got in foul trouble. Mosley gets some credit for Lucas drawing the fouls but it also was pretty weak by the refs. As you stated Lucas knowing that beforehand should at least prepare him, so he gets some blame for that. All I was defending here was that Mosley didn’t drop 40pts on Lucas, he did that to Tate Hall and Schweiger. Mosley won the matchup, but as a fan I would have enjoyed being able to see it last longer than 10min.

Now that we're basically at the half way point...

Midseason awards seem too easy, right? Or am I crazy?

First Team:

Mosely (POY)
Green
Penn
Williamson
Carter/Prim

Second Team:

Carter/Prim
Norris
Roberts
Reaves
Domask

COY-Ford
FOY-DeVries
NCOY-Roberts
DPOY-Williamson

Well, the end result is, there was a game in which the one team had a 6'4 wing who is the reigning DPOY in the conference, and the other team had a 6'5 wing who is currently the best offensive player in the conference. The team with the great defender is also noted for their staunch team defense. The offensive dude score 40, the defensive dude fouled out. The offensive dude's team won. You can frame the rest however, but that's the story line. It could change the next time.

Probably not crazy , but a little homerish and a little too much on rep vs performance. Carter's having a good year, but isn't getting my nod ahead of Prim or Domask who both do more. And Green over Reaves , based on this year stats and how more consistent a shooter Reaves has been, isn't a lock. I love Penn, but he hasn't been as good as Roberts or Norris this year. Now , Penn has been injured and could easily have a dynamic 2nd half, because i think he is the best pg in the conference. And Green of course could string together dominant performances , but he's just not been as dead eye as Reaves so far and neither is big on other stats, but my guess is will get the first team nod. And frankly, Sturtz has to get 6th man of the year, but also is probably worthy a second team notice. And [ tongue in cheek] how can the often cited "one of the worst coaches in the league" win COY.

No Rienk Mast? He’s the best big man in the league right now. There’s definitely a case to be made for Mast and Roberts both being first team guys when you look at the numbers.

In MVC games Terry Roberts is 8th in scoring, 7th in rebounding, first in assists and second in steals.

He's a first team guy at the half way point.

I agree, I said he won the matchup but was hoping to be able to actually watch them play against each other lol. Loyola’s defense has also fallen off this year. Up until their shooting woes the offense had been the one improvement statistically.

There's really no reason why Roman Penn should be anywhere near first team other than that his name is Roman Penn. If you're going to pick someone from Drake, it should be Garrett Sturtz (or even Tucker) before Penn.

Mast is having a nice year, and I think has really improved his down low presence this year, but I'm not sure which planet he's better than Gaige Prim on, but it ain't this one. Prim scores better, shoots better, rebounds better, defends better, and passes better. Mast can shoot the trey a lot better. You have to remember Prim was ill and his stats dropped for a couple games, and the offense now runs thru Mosley. But Prim's #'s are still at the top of the league for a post player. And I haven't seen any other post in the league get the consistent double as Prim does, he has people hanging on him from the minute he leaves the tunnel.

Remember when they were going to clean up post play and chucking cutters?

That was a fun week.
